October, isn’t it the most beautiful month, the colours outside in the woods and countryside just amaze me every year, I love a forage for some gorgeous twigs or fallen branches with lichen and moss to have in a vase at home.
I have been lucky enough to have had 2 autumnal weddings so far and another on Saturday, The colour pallets have all been slightly different. One with navy and orange and one with the palest blue and russet browns and copper. This week’s is chocolate brown, sage and all autumnal foliages.
It is lovely outside
One of the first modules I studied at college was colour and the colour wheel, this is the circle diagram which explains colour, you would of seen the primary colours this way of red, yellow and blue, then secondly colours orange, green and purple. After that you get tertiary colours a mix of red/orange, yellow/green and purple/blue.
Then there are tints, tones and shades, these are what make our colours lighter by adding white, this is tint, adding black to make darker is the shade of the tone making them dustier looking by adding grey.
Using colours can change the feel of a whole room, office reception space, adding warm or cool tones even just in soft furnishings, adding a warm toned colour like burgundy can add warmth, a few cushion, a rug, few candles and a vase of fresh flowers will totally make a room more inviting and cosy. ♥️
The same goes for lighting too, adding a warmer shade bulb or a lamp rather than a ceiling light all small adjustments to bring that colour and warmth into your home. Of course for me scent is a huge lift in a room and although candles really are the first item you’d think of you just cannot beat the scent of fresh flowers, a naturally scent over all the artificial fumes we are breathing in (that’s a whole blog of its own! ) 😁 a few stems of eucalyptus, is so uplifting and with a stems of pine in a month or 2 and you’ll be bringing the scent of Xmas even if your tree is artificial!
It’s coming you know🧑🏻🎄🎄 love as always Sam x
