December. Not the best start to the season, currently sitting writing this with ice pack on my lower back, and not slept for 3 nights!
A trapped nerve is causing my pain and my stress as workshop season kicks off.
It’s one of my favourite things to do and I’m lucky enough to have 4 sold out workshops this year.
As I sit here I’ve realised that I’ve over looked the advent calendar buying for the first time, it was always my mum that treated the boys to their advent calendars and I bought the last five years since she passed and tomorrow will be the first time they haven’t got one but at 20 and 24 I think they’ll cope!
Christmas is not something we get on board with early in my house, decorations don’t go up until the 2nd weekend in December. As I tend to use lots of fresh foliage in the house sometimes it’s later than that.
This week there is something much more exciting than Christmas happening at my home!
My new studio has been delivered and the company are installing it on Tuesday!
I will have so much more space to work and really hope to be in there and working for Valentine’s Day. It is taking up a large portion of the garden but it will mean that I won’t be using the laundry room, garage and dining room at peak times!
Of course they’ll be lots on social media and I’ll have a grand opening too. Keep you eyes peeled. I thought I’d ask AI for some inspiration for my studio, see the photo below, I’m not sure it really knows the mess a florist workshop can be.
The next few weeks will be super busy with orders, fitting out the studio, a beautiful winter wedding other than that I’ll be in my pj’s 😆
So wishing you all the very best festive season, enjoy the twinkling lights, the seasonal scents and the partying.
Merry Christmas

Sam x

November, I feel like it’s so overlooked, we don’t get time to enjoy it as a beautiful Autumn month. We can have gorgeous bright clear days, and the possibility of a frost. Which mean’s I really need to get to the allotment and have a big tidy and mulch and protect some of the plants that need a blanket over winter. ❄️

This is also when my Christmas prep begins, over the next week I’ll start mossing my wreath frames, wiring pine cones and cinnamon sticks, ready for the workshops. I start gathering ideas for my designs for wreaths and table centers. 🎄
This year I’ve decided not to do any Christmas markets. They are so time consuming with preparing and making items to sell and I feel that most are visited for people having a wander, grabbing a mulled wine and not necessarily buying! Well not my items anyway 😆 It also gives me a chance to do more workshops, which is my absolute favourite thing to do! I’m holding 3 dates at a venue I’ve used before and this year I’m also at a local 1940’s tearoom, The Bell Hotel in Hoddesdon.

Yes November is definitely overlooked by me, it’s the calm before the storm and I feel I need to take a day here and there to enjoy some time with my family and my girl Eve our Labradoodle, who we have had a year on 4th this month!
So please do the same, Christmas can bring so much stress to many, family gatherings, financial strain, the 🥶 cold. Do something you love or take time out, watch a film, go get a really indulgent hot chocolate, curl up under blanket with a book. 📕 You could even book in with me for a couple of hours of creative fun, surround yourself with winter scented foliage and lots of laughs at one of the workshops!
whatever it is you choose, do it for you, it won’t be long before we’re dishing up pigs in blankets and stuffing 😜
Much love Sam ♥️

Hey and happy September, how is it already Autumn, this year is just flying. I’m here to chat about workshops that are coming up but I’m still right in the middle of wedding season, with 3 in 8 days this week and having to think ahead of Christmas hurts my brain! 😆

First I have advertised my pumpkin workshop again and only have 5 places left, so if you were undecided and want to join me either onto the website or drop me a message.

So the C word, yep sorry it’s coming round too fast and I really thought about not doing them this year, I absolutely love them and always really kicks off the festive season, but it’s such a flooded market with everyone and anyone trying them. This will be my 3rd year and I’m shocked how expensive the sundries and foliage have got, hence my price increase this year. I also upped my insurance to get maximum cover for all my workshops. So for a fully trained and fully insured class it’s still pretty reasonable.

If you’ve never been and are curious about what it entails, you’ll be greeted with a friendly group with festive music a glass of mulled wine or fizz, non alcoholic options are always available, a mince pie or a slice of cake too!

Laid out on your workspace will be a pre mossed wreath ring, a reel of wire and a selection of foliage. After a short demonstration you’ll be able to start your wreath and I’ll be on hand with any help needed, once you have a fully greened wreath, using a selection of spruce, and winter foliages we can then decorate and attach a bow. It always fun and there’s plenty of time to perfect your door wreath.

I’ll add the dates at the bottom and will also be making them for anyone that doesn’t fancy getting their hands dirty 😊 Hope to see many of you there. Sam x 🎄

Well here it is my very first blog, I really struggled to think of a subject for my first month, so I thought an insight into my day to day in the height of wedding season. From then on each month try to make it different, some will be informative, covering subjects that might or might not interest you😆 and others that will be pure waffle no doubt, but I hope you enjoy them and come back every month.
So it’s August and bang in the middle of wedding season, however there seems to be increasingly out of summer and midweek weddings, becoming more popular as they can be considerably cheaper. My season started late this year at the end of May and it’s right up until Christmas week this year, with a break in November, Thank goodness 😅
