What a Summer

Wow! What a Summer we had, and it’s not over yet!
To say it’s been stressful at times is an understatement, juggling buying days, delivery days for weddings and general orders has been a new battle.
I normally buy in time so that all the stock has 24 hours to rehydrate after I’ve conditioned them, (that’s the process of removing leaves, thorns and cutting the stems). As the weather has been so warm, sometimes too warm to work in the studio I’ve been buying on the day I need to use them, so they stay in the wholesalers cold fridge!
I have been checking them like newborns, on the hottest days and watching them open 😩 having to replace some blooms if they just don’t look perfect for the wedding!
Besides that the allotment has suffered obviously, I or should I say my dad has been watering daily but it wasn’t enough to keep my flowers and Veg alive! The soil was like dust and the fruit just didn’t come to anything and flowers bloomed fast and then were sun scorched.
As I sit typing it’s 27’ outside and it looks like Autumn 🍂 the trees are brown and there isn’t any grass left in the garden.
However I pretty sure it won’t be long before I’m moaning about freezing cold hands and not feeling my toes!
The joy of living in a county with seasons, how lucky we are……bring on spring 😆🌷🪻
